A little piece of history

This was one of the many layers of flooring in the little back bedroom.

Probably the coolest find yet! This is a piece of rather fibrous paper that comes apart in stringy layers if you try to tear it. But the cool thing about it that it has the name and address of the old Ridgway Mercantile on it! And a COD label from the Ridgway Express Agency! Too fun!

Odds and ends 17 - Paper with COD label

Odds and ends 18 - COD label

Ah, random old house insulation. Got a bunch of old shoes? Throw ’em in the wall! Animal hair? Newspapers? Go ahead! Historical documents? No problem! That’s pretty cool.

The linoleum patterns are really delicate (for linoleum!), I wonder what the linoleum printing technology was like back then..

Anyways, glad you have this blog so I can see what you’re up to from afar!

    • Yup! Not a ton of random finds in the insulation (a couple of pieces of old newspaper stuffing in a couple holes is all) but all KINDS of oddments under the floor!
